How Kalu’s first goal of the season rescued Bordeaux from defeat

Super Eagles star Samuel Kalu scored his first goal of the season for Girondis Bordeaux in their 3-3 draw away to Montpellier, in the French Ligue 1 on Wednesday.

Kalu started the game from the bench, but he was introduced at the start of second half after coach  Vetkovic withdrew Javairo Dilrosun.

The Nigerian international justified his introduction as he netted the equaliser for Bordeaux with five minutes left on the clock.

Valere Germain gave the hosts the lead in the 12th minutes, after a good work down the right by Stephy Mavididi.

Bordeaux hit back with two quick from from Ui-Jo Hwang and Jean Onana on the 18th and 27th minutes respectively.

They went into half time  break with the lead, but Montpelier restored parity five minutes into the second half through Valere Germain again.

Florent Mollet put Montpelier in front for the second time on the 75th minutes, before Kalu netted the leveller for Bordeaux to end the thrilling contest 3-3.

It was Kalu’s first goal in his fifth league appearance for Bordeaux so far this season.

Bordeaux are now in 17th position on six points in the league table after seven games played.
