‘I can’t judge him with 15 minutes,’ Ex Netherlands Star speaks on Bassey

Former Manchester United midfielder Arnold Mühren insists Calvin Bassey is a quality player, despite bad start to life in Netherlands.

The highly rated Bassey signed for Ajax from Rangers this summer, in a deal that could rise £26m in total package.

The defender endured a bad start to Ajax career as he was sent off in his debut against PSV Eindhoven last week.

Bassey came on in the second half of the Johan Cruyff Shield tie, but lasted for 15 minutes as he was sent off for A bad challenge on PSV’s Ismael Saibari.

While assessing the new players who just arrived the Eredivisie this summer, former Netherlands international Arnold Mühren admits Bassey was unlucky to start his career with a red card, but insists the moment can’t be used to judge the player.

“I can’t judge him (Bassey) based on that 15 minutes until he got a red card,” Arnold Mühren told Het Parool, as per Ajax Show Time.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old will now sit out the opening two league games as a result of the red card.
