Irish defender Louise Quinn Questions Super Falcons Low ranking

Republic of Ireland defender, Louise Quinn recognizes the quality of the Super Falcons and admires their performance in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Super Falcons have proven to be a formidable team, despite their lowly ranking in the Group B before the tournament began.

Quinn in a chat with Sky sports complimented the former African Champions for their exploits so far in the tournament.

Nigeria currently top the group with four points, while the Irish have been eliminated from the tournament after losing two matches.

“How they’re even ranked the fourth seed in the group I don’t know because they are an excellent, excellent team,” Quinn told Sky Sports.

“We knew that we wanted to be able to come into this game, in terms of progressing through the group, to really have something to play for, but for us, there’s still so much that we want to achieve and that we want to do.”

Despite Ireland’s elimination, Quinn said the Irish are determined to secure their first points and potentially influence the group standings in their final encounter against Nigeria.

The debutants lost their previous games to Australia and Canada.

“We want to still make the history of getting points, really mixing up this group for us. We’re still fully concentrated on that,” she asserted.

“But, at the same time, we’ve shown against the two top sides in this group as well, Australia and Canada, that they’ll have to be aware of us in a lot of ways.”

Nigeria and Republic of Ireland will lock horns at the Lang Park in Melbourne on Monday.
