Jose Peseiro Confirms Algeria Offer

Out-of-contract Super Eagles Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro has disclosed that he has been approached by the Algeria Football Federation (FAF) following the expiration of his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 63-year-old tactician has reportedly garnered interest from the Algerian FA, who are in search of a new coach after parting ways with Djamel Belmadi due to the Desert Foxes’ underwhelming performance at the continental tournament.

Confirming the news Peseiro stated, “I received a lot of offers after the African Cup final.”

He further revealed to El Hayat TV Channel, “I received an offer from the FAF, but I will first rest, and my agent will take care of it.”

Peseiro’s last experience at the AFCON has made him a sought-after candidate for coaching roles on the continent after he achieved a silver medal in the tournament in Ivory Coast.

However, the Portuguese coach intends to take some time off before considering his next career move, leaving the negotiations in the hands of his agent.

It is also worthy if note that the NFF are yet to release a statement regarding if he will be retained or not.
