King in England! Guardiola completes Trophy sweep with Community Shield Win

Manchester City have become only the third team to win the Community Shield in back to back seasons following a 5-4 penalty victory over Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Gabriel Jesus converted the winning kick, after Georginio Wijnaldum saw his kick saved by Claudio Bravo earlier on. The game had ended 1-1 in regulation time.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the first half, but Liverpool leveled up in second half through Cameroon’s Joel Matip.

Despite several chances created and missed opportunities by Mohamed Salah, one of the biggest plays of the game was Kyle Walker’s goal-line clearance with the Reds chasing a winning goal.

Among other things, City’s triumph also equals Arsenal’s record set in 2002 for the only teams to have won the EPL title, FA Cup and the following season capping it with the shield.

Guardiola has now won every domestic competition in England and becomes the first Manager to win the League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield in succession.
