UEFA Champions League Final: Who Wins It?

When Manchester City takes on Inter Milan in the Champions League final at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, they will be attempting to win the competition for the first time and complete the treble, having already won the English Premier League trophy and The FA Cup trophy.

The FA Cup victory was on account of beating cross-town rival Manchester United and the Cityzens are well on their way to equalling United’s record as the only team to win a treble with the UCL in England.

In 1998–1999, Manchester United became the first and only English team to win the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have made it to the Champions League final twice in three years, losing to Chelsea in 2020–21.

Manchester City enters the final on Saturday in superb form, having dropped only one of their last 26 games overall and remaining undefeated in Europe this year, winning seven of 12 games.

Guardiola’s Manchester City seem to be even more fearsome on paper than his Barcelona team that won the UCL in 2008–09, which lost just once on the way to the final but scored 32 goals and allowed 13 goals – his last UCL winning team.

Compared, this season Manchester City’s 31 goals and five goals conceded is a better stats than the team they were two seasons ago when they played against Chelsea in the final.

According to Guardiola, he had Messi at Barcelona, and now, Haaland, who could be the frontline general to his holy grail this time.

Three-time European champions Inter, who placed third in Serie A and won the Coppa Italia for the second straight year, will face off against Manchester City, who are the clear favorites.

However, Inter should not be disregarded, they recorded a tournament-high eight clean sheets in their first 12 games, with goalkeeper Andre Onana being their star player.

A strong attack is also present in Simone Inzaghi’s team.

Edin Dzeko, a former Manchester City striker, and Romelu Lukaku are also available for the Italians, who are led by Lautaro Martinez.
