Royale Union Saint-Gilloise boss Karel Geraerts insists he has no problem with star Victor Boniface ahead of their game against Club Brugge.

Boniface was substituted at half time in Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat to Royal Antwerp and the striker was unhappy with the decision.

The media however suggest the episode has affected the relationship between Boniface and Karel Geraerts.

“No one likes to be substituted, especially in such an important match,” Garaerts told Het Nieuwsblad on Friday.

“But it was not the Boniface as I want to see it and that’s why I made that choice. He was disappointed, but understands that. In recent days, that was no longer an issue.”

Geraerts added that Union will need the Attacker to rediscover his form again ahead of their game against Club Brugge, Today.
