English Premier League giants Manchester United have confirmed Odion Ighalo’s departure from the club.
The Red Devils revealed Ighalo will be returning to his parent club Shanghai Greenland Shenhua following the expiration of his loan deal.
Ighalo who joined Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in January 2020 scored five goal ls in all competitions for the club last season but struggled for game time this season.
“We’d like to thank Odion for his efforts while at the club and wish him all the best for the future,” reads a statement on the club website.
The Nigerian forward also took to social media to express his gratitude to the club, fans, and manager on Tuesday as he announced his departure.
Ighalo made 23 appearances for United across all competitions, and remain the first Nigerian to play for the club.
