Nigeria home-based Eagles prepares for 2018 World Cup qualifiers, WAFU Nations Cup

Nigeria’s home-based Eagles will regroup later this month for camping ahead of the WAFU Nations Cup after the team sealed a place in the 2018 CHAN.

After earning ₦200,000 as match bonus for their 2-0 victory against Benin Republic on Saturday, Salisu Yusuf is hoping the financial motivation spurs the players home-based Eagles.

“The WAFU championship will begin next month and the date the players will resume camping will be communicated soon.”

Nigeria play Sierra Leone in its match of the WAFU Nations Cup month in Takoradi, Ghana.

Meanwhile, as per Alex Monye [The Guardian] citing Ibitoye, Super Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr will also commence preparation for the World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

Ibitoye was quoted as saying the list of invited players will be made available this week.

Ibitoye said the CHAN Eagles and coaches were delighted by the second leg defeat of Benin Republic in the qualifiers, adding that the players have promised to give their best in the tournament scheduled to hold in Kenya next year.
