Nigeria v Ghana: Not a Friendly Match – Omeruo

Super Eagles captain Kenneth Omeruo insists that the showdown between Nigeria and Ghana is a competitive fixture and will not be treated as a friendly encounter.

Omeruo emphasized this stance while speaking ahead of the match between the two sides in Marrakesh, Morocco, scheduled for 4 p.m. (Nigerian time).

The Black Stars secured the 2022 FIFA World Cup ticket at the expense of their arch rivals over two legs of pensive football.

Thomas Partey’s goal in Abuja handed Otto Addo’s side the away-goal advantage after a goalless affair in the reverse fixture in Kumasi.

Although Nigeria found the equalizer, the visitors held on for a famous ending to the long ardous qualifying campaign.

Speaking on the preparation for Friday’s match, Omeruo said, “It’s been good; we are training and working hard, focusing on our tactics to secure victory in this game.

“You know matches against Ghana are typically not friendly. We are prepared and will give our all to secure the win.”

He also highlighted the team’s readiness to collaborate with the new interim coach, emphasizing that losing the match is not an option for the team.
