Volleyball: Maikano blames technical error, Kayode blames preparation for poor outing

Secretary general of the Volleyball federation of Nigeria Maikano Adamu has denied the insinuation that camping of the volleyball team in Abuja preparatory for the just concluded African qualifier in Maputo Mozambique which saw only the female team qualifying for the world championships in Austria was responsible for the dismal outing of the male team.

Adamu said technical error may be the reason for the inability of the male team not to get the ticket rather than where they trained but he praised their effort for not doing too badly at the volleyball competition.

Meanwhile, the Male beach volleyball team coach Ajilore Kayode also insisted that their preparation to the just concluded African qualifiers in Maputo Mozambique was not encouraging and was partly responsible for his team not to pick the ticket to the world championships to be staged in Austria.

He said while other teams where organizing tours prior to the qualifiers, Nigeria only camped in the nation’s capital Abuja for a week prior to the qualifier.
