NPFL: Enyimba, FC Ifeanyi Uba share the spoil in Nnewi

Enyimba FC picked their first point in many years at Nnewi after forcing FC Ifeanyi Uba to a draw.

The Aba Elephants were fortunate to leave the Anambra Warriors’ territory with a point, thanks to a late equalizer from Nabil Yarou.

The draw means Enyimba could not capitalize on Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars’ defeat against Lobi Stars and Rangers respectively.

Uzochukwu Ifejiofor’s put the hosts ahead in the 30th-minute, after heading home from Evans Ogbonda’s corner.

Ekene Awazie should have put the game beyond Enyimba ten minutes later, but he missed another glorious chance. The striker cuts inside of his marker and shoots on target which Hassan Abubakar clears off the goal line.

The Benin Republic international Nabil Yarou finally level the game for Enyimba in the 86th minute. The towering defeat got his head to Anayo Iwuala’s free-kick and head past the goalkeeper.

FC Ifeanyi Uba responded and almost won it with the last kick of the game, but Eric Uguocha saw his piledriver is saved by the Sabirou Bassa-Djeri.

Enyimba remains fourth on the log, although they are level on points with Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars (58).

The three-team are trailing league leaders Akwa United by six points.

FC Ifeanyi Uba on their part, are 18th, four points behind Jigawa Golden Stars who are occupying the last safety spot.
