NPFL: Rivers United, Plateau United bounce back to winning ways

Rivers United beat Lobi Stars to maintain their two points lead at top of NPFL table.

Stanley Eguma’s side were far from their best, but managed to secure a hard fought 1-0 win over the Benue based team at home.

Nyima Nwagua scored the only goal of the game in the 15th minute of the encounter.

A beautiful left footed shot from the former Kano Pillars man sailed into the top left corner of Lobi’s goal.

Meanwhile, Lobi were reduced to 10 men when Ifeanyi Ogba was shown a straight red for a reckless foul on Ndasi.

In Jos, Plateau United needed a late goal from Andrew Ikefe to beat Niger Tornadoes.

Andrew Ikefe ventured forward from his role at the back to fire the home side ahead. He expertly connects Isah Aliyu’s pass to prod the ball home on the dot of 90 minute.

Wikki Tourists also defeated Sunshine Stars by the same scoreline in Bauchi.

Abubakar Aliyu scored the winner for the Bauchi Elephants after three minutes of play.
