Rangers boss van Bronckhorst admits missing Bassey

Rangers coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst admits he would have loved to still have Calvin Bassey in his team for the season.

Bassey spent two successful seasons at Rangers, before leaving for Ajax Amsterdam in the recent transfer window.

van Bronckhorst, however, watched helplessly from the dugout as Bassey caged his attackers during the UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday.

Bassey also set up one of the goals for the Dutch Champions who ran out 4-0 winner over the Gers.

“Of course I would have loved to have Calvin on the bench today, but we sold him for so much money,” the Rangers boss said when quizzed on the Nigerian.

Rangers lost few players during the transfer window, including Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun.

Asked if his club have successfully replaced the departed stars, the former Dutch and Arsenal defenders said:

“Players go, players comes. They are good players, but unfortunately they are not playing for us anymore.”
