Ronaldo not destined to win the World Cup — Okocha

Super Eagles legend Austin Okocha has sympathized with Cristiano Ronaldo following Portugal’s exit from the World Cup, but insists the striker isn’t destined to win the World Cup.

The 37-year-old former Manchester United star, started the quarter final match against Morocco from the bench and was introduced in the 51st minute.

Ronaldo however failed to make impression as Morocco matched on to semi-final with a 1-0 victory on Saturday.

Reviewing some of the shocking results during the World Cup with Supersports, Okocha said Qatar was Ronaldo’s last chance to win the crown.

“Oh yes! We have seen it in this tournament. A lot of stars have cried because they knew this could be their last chance of playing in the World Cup,” Okocha told SuperSport TV.

“We saw Luis Suarez and now Ronaldo. What a fantastic career he has had. He is an icon but I mean, some things are not meant to be. I do not think that it was meant for him to win the World Cup because they had everything, but credit to Morocco.” He concluded.

Meanwhile Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to made decision on his international career.

It is understood that, he could stay on for Euro 2024.
