Solskjaer snubs Ighalo again as Manchester United suffers defeat in Turkey

Odion Ighalo continue to wait for debut in the UEFA Champions League as he was left on the bench for Manchester United who lost 2-1 against Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday night.

Ighalo is yet to make an official appearance in the competition, despite being named in Manchester United’s squad on three different occasions this season.

The former Watford man was also on bench for the United’s season opener away to Paris Saint-Germain and last week’s clash with Red Bull Leipzig, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to hand him a minute in all three games.

While Ighalo was watching from the bench, his fellow African, Demba Ba who shot Istanbul Basaksehir in front with just 13 minutes into the game.

The Senegalese striker received a ball from his half and ran all the way to United’s box, before slotting a low curler past Dean Henderson.

The home side continued their good start and Visca scored the second from another perfect counter attack play.

French forward Antony Martial hit back immediately after the restart to reduce the deficit, before the end of the first half.

Manchester United failed to find the much needed equaliser in the second half and Istanbul Basaksehir held on for their first victory in the competition.

Meanwhile, Nigeria international Azubuike Okechukwu who plays for Istanbul Basaksehir also missed the game as he continues to work to regain full fitness.
