Kabiru Dogo must be the luckiest Sunshine Stars Manager ever and he rode it well, rewarding the fans with an important win on Wednesday against NPFL champions Enyimba FC.
Sunshine picked their first win of the season, halting a four-game winless run from last season, in all competitions.
His first year in the ‘dug out’ with the Whales didn’t quit set off the spark many had hoped, and losing one of their finest players in Dayo Ojo to Enyimba didn’t seat well fans.
The 2019 season opening game draw at home against Warri Wolves put more pressure on the Coach and his players.
Two games later and they were still searching for the first win, Dogo on the tenterhooks.
But their season really got underway after the final blast of the whistle at home against the hitherto unbeaten Enyimba .
As brila.net learnt from Winger Fuad Ekelojuoti, the players can’t put it all in words just yet.
‘It was like the league just got underway for sunshine stars yesterday,’ Ekelojuoti said.
‘The game was awesome, three maximum points against the holders, You know the feeling is just pure heartfelt joy.’
