Super Eagles Defender explains reason for Lobi Stars Move

Super Eagles defender Reuben Ogbonnaya says his decision to leave Niger Tornadoes was “purely professional” and dismissed reports he dumped the relegated side because they’d play in the National League next season.

Ogbonnaya who joined 2018 NPFL Champions Lobi Stars told www.brila.net the decision to leave Tornadoes was difficult for him and he broke the news to his teammates, “two days after he sealed the move”.

“They felt bad, naturally, it was a shocking news to them,” the player admitted.

“I didn’t leave because the team got relegated, I left because I needed a new challenge and it was the perfect time. Lobi Stars are a big side like Rangers, Enyimba and Pillars.”

About his new team and ambition, for player and club, Ogbonnaya said, “The dream of every player is to win trophies and this team has been competitive.

“So hopefully, we can win the league again and return to the continent.”
