Super Falcons Form Excites Okoronkwo

Super Falcons striker, Esther Okoronkwo, has shared her delight at being able to help the team with goal scoring duties.

The striker scored the goal that saw Nigeria defeat Haiti 2-1 last week.

She also scored a superb free-kick, before Asisat Oshoala got the second goal in the game.

“It felt really good coming to score the goal to qualify us for the WAFCON and I was very happy to be able to help the team the way I can,” Okoronkwo remarked.

“That goal against Costa Rica was really good, it was a really good assist too, I felt really good and it was more like teamwork, we needed that win.

“We came from seven straight losses, so we had to show the world that we are number one in Africa for a reason. We came out played good, played as a team against Costa Rica and we got the win.

“We are ready, we just have to come out play as we did, stay together, play for each other and when we work together as a team the sky is the limit. We have amazing individual players but again individual talent is not going to win the game.”

Esther Okoronkwo would hope to maintain her good form later today, as the Super Falcons are set to play World Cup co-host, New Zealand by 2pm, Nigerian time.
