Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi is on track to return to full fitness before the conclusion of the season, despite his ongoing struggles with injuries.

Awoniyi, 26, has faced a challenging season marked by recurring injuries, including a recent thigh setback that has seen him sidelined for Forest’s last four matches.

Having already missed a significant portion of the campaign due to a groin surgery earlier in the season, Awoniyi’s return to action in January was short-lived as he suffered another setback with his thigh.

According to reports from The Telegraph, Awoniyi is scheduled to undergo a scan this week, with hopes that it will provide clarity on the timeline for his comeback.

With Nottingham Forest currently embroiled in a relegation battle in the Premier League and only six games remaining, the potential return of Awoniyi would be a welcome boost for head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

The club is keen to have him available for selection as they fight to secure their top-flight status.
