Tokyo Olympics: Odunayo Adekuoroye suffers shocking defeat in Women’s wrestling

Nigeria’s medal hopeful Odunayo Adekuoroye has failed to advance to the semi-final of the Women’s wrestling 57kg category at the Tokyo Olympics.

Odunayo who is one of the favorites for the gold medal lost her quarter final fight to Moldova’s Anastasia Nichita in the early hour of Tuesday morning.

Odunayo Adekuoroye was leading her 8-2, but she lost by a pinfall to Anastasia Nichita to exit the event.

She failed to become the second Nigerian to win a medal in Wrestling after Blessing Oborodudu who won silver medal in the women 68kg category.

Meanwhile, In the 86kg class, Ekerekeme Agiomor has been eliminated from from the 86kg men category.

Agiormo was beaten 12-1 by favorite Deepak Punia of India on Tuesday morning.
