Nigeria got their U17 Africa Cup of Nations campaign to a flying start with a narrow win over Zambia in Constantine on Sunday.

The Eaglets started brightly and had a goal disallowed in the 13th minute, but the team however had to wait much longer before finding a breakthrough.

Favour Daniel was the hero as his 76th-minute goal hand Golden Eaglets the maximum points.

Meanwhile, Nigeria had the chance to go two-goal up, when the team was awarded a penalty in the added time, but Light Eke’s kick was saved by the Zambian goalkeeper Shadrick Kalyati.

After the final whistle, Yahaya Lawali was named Man of the match.
