WAFU B U-17: Golden Eaglets Cruise into Semi-finals

The Golden Eaglets secured their spot in the semi finals of the ongoing WAFU B U17 Championship by thumping Togo 3-0, in final Group B game.

The Eaglets got their noses in front with striker Abdulmuiz Adeleke, scoring the opening goal just nine minutes into the game.

Rapha Adams extended Nigeria’s lead with a perfectly executed diving header, latching on an excellent assist from team captain Simon Cletus.

Adeleke once again found the back of the net, netting his second goal of the day in the 69th minute, courtesy of yet another assist from skipper Cletus.

However, Adeleke was denied a hat-trick by the Togo goalkeeper’s impressive save from the penalty spot.

With this victory, Nigeria accumulated seven points from three matches edging Burkina Faso, who also secured seven points but fell short on goal difference after narrowly defeating Niger 1-0 in their final group stage match.

The Golden Eaglets are now set to face off against Cote d’Ivoire in the semi finals this Saturday, while runners-up Burkina Faso will take on Ghana in the other semi-final clash.
