Enyimba came close to becoming the first team to defeat MFM FC at the Agege Stadium this season in the NPFL after the Elephants to a second half lead through striker, Bashir AbdulRahman, but a goalkeeping error cost them two points.
Head Coach Usman Abd’Allah had opted for Stanley Nwabali instead of the much experienced Theophilus Afelokhai for the top of the table clash and the decision backfired.
The Young goalkeeper made a costly error and was punished as MFM FC’s only shot on target hit the back of the net, but Afelokhai has come to the defence of his teammate.
In a chat with brila.net Afelokhai said although the occasion might have been overwhelming, it was an opportunity the young Nwabali deserved.
He also said,’We all learn everyday, I will have to speak with him to bring his down and learn more.
‘As I am sitting down in the bench, I’m also learning, it’s hard to learn when you’re on the pitch, so it suits me that I sometimes sit out games.’
