Bologna set to lure Troost-Ekong back to Serie A

Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has emerged as a transfer target for Italian Serie A side Bologna.

Ekong is out of favor at Watford, and Bologna is confident they can sign the defender before the end of the current transfer window.

The Rossoblù manager Sinisa Mihajlovic wants to strengthen his defense, following their shaky start to the new Serie A campaign.

Bologna are currently 16th on the log after three games, with zero wins and conceding five goals in the process.

According to Italian market expert, Gianluca Di Marzio, Mihajlovic believes Ekong can improve his backline and he’s willing to bring him back to Italy.

Ekong spent two productive campaigns with Udinese in Italy, before making a switch to Watford in 2020, where he signed a five-year contract.

Troost-Ekong is currently the third-choice center half at Watford and he’s keen to leave for a better playing time elsewhere.
