Dessers misses penalty as Cremonese remains winless in Serie A

Cyriel Dessers failed to add to his goal tally for US Cremonese as he missed a penalty against Sampdoria on Monday night.

Dessers who has scored in his last two games, also missed the opportunity to become the third Cremonese player to score in three consecutive top flight league game at home, Enrico Chiesa in 1995.

Bruno Amione stepped on David Okereke’s foot and referee Fabio Maresca awarded a penalty kick following a VAR check, but Audero denied Cyriel Dessers from the spot, keeping the score level.

Cremonese continued to dominate possession, Dessers had another good chance, but his left-foot shot from a good position went wide.

The misses however proved costly, as Sampdoria won the game 1-0 to leave Cremonese winless and bottom of the table.

Colley, who was earlier booked for dissent, was the match winner as he broke the deadlock in the second half.

The defeat means Cremonese now sit rock bottom of the table with four points in 11 games and are the only team without victories in Serie A this season.
