Imama admits NFF will decide his future

Nigeria U23 team coach, Imama Amapakabo has revealed that his future with the national team will be determined by the Nigeria Football Federation.

Cup holders, Nigeria missed out on a  chance to be part of the 2020 Olympics football tournament after crashing out of the ongoing CAF U23 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Imama’s boys needed an outright victory against South Africa after garnering three points from their first two group matches to qualify for the semifinals of the U23 AFCON tournament which also doubles as Olympics qualifier.

The result means Nigeria’s U23 team will not be participating at next year’s Olympics in Tokyo, prompting a call for Imama’s sack.

However, Imama who also failed to succeed with the Wafu Cup Nigerian team and Nigeria’s Chan team in recent times concedes that his fate is not in his hands as it will be decided by the Federation.

“It is totally out of my hands. We have to look at the future; this has ended, whichever way we want to look at it,”

“And it depends on what the federation wants in terms of going forward.”
