Lobi Stars ready for Wydad Casablanca, Says Itodo

Lobi Stars of Makurdi captain, Cletus Itodo believes his side are capable of hurting Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in the CAF Champions League clash at Nnamdi Azikwe stadium in Enugu on Saturday.

Lobi Stars defeated Mamelodi Sundown 2-1 in the opening game of the group stage before losing 0-1 to Asec Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire in the second game fortnight ago.

However Itodo, who is integral part of Coach Solomon Ogbeide side said that the Moroccans are not invincible and the Pride of Benue are ready to serve them their second defeat in the group stage.

“I think we are ready for the tie having prepared very well for this kind of match. We don’t care about their records in Africa because what we are after is just to pick the three maximum points to brighten our chance in the group,” he said.

“We want to make out team proud in the competition being the only Nigerian side left in the championship. We are doing everything possible to give something to our fans to cheer coupled with the kind of support we have been getting from the Benue State government.

We can’t afford to let Nigerians down that is why we are going to take very match serious and ensure that whether we are playing away or at home, we claim the three points at stake,”

The midfielder admitted that the team is missing playing in front of their home crowd as they have struggled for support in Enugu and hope the can return to the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi soon.

“Not having majority of our fans with us is not encouraging but we will surely give our best to ensure that we give them something to cheer at home. Their presence would have indeed motivated the team more but notwithstanding, we are battle ready for the match in Enugu with the support from the Enugu fans,” he said.
