Maurizio Sarri tells Hazard to copy Kante in committing future to Chelsea

Chelsea Manager Maurizio Sarri hopes talisman Eden Hazard will follow in the footsteps of N’Golo Kante by committing his future to Chelsea.

Hazard’s current contract runs until June 2020but the Belgian has made no secret of his desire to play for Real Madrid at some point in the future, admitting it would a dream come true to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Chelsea are keen to keep hold of the playmaker and are hoping to tie him down to a long-term contract in a bid to ward off interest from the La Liga club.

Kante put pen to paper on a new five-year deal on Friday and Sarri hopes Hazard will become the latest player to commit his future to the London club.

“This is very important news, he is a very important player for us,” Sarri told his weekly press conference.

“He is very important player for us in the defensive phase and is improving in offensive movements. Now he has to improve in the last 20-25 metres, he can score more.

“I don’t know about a new contract (for Eden). I don’t know About the evolution of a new contract, I think we can do it. I hope so.

“N’Golo, for us, is not just an important player. He’s a ‘determining’ player for us. So I’m really happy with the new contract. Clearly very pleased for him. And it’s a very important news.

“I know that David told something about him, that he doesn’t want to pay the bill in the restaurant. So he has a flaw like everybody. But I think he is a really professional player, very professional on the pitch and off the pitch.
