Offa Volleyball Club and Nigeria Customs Service have emerged champions of the 2022 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League in the men and women categories respectively.
A 3-2 (25-16, 23-25, 25-17,17-25, 15-11) victory over Nigeria Correctional Service in a keenly contested men’s match saw Offa VC secured a deserved championship title.
Meanwhile Nigeria Customs Service beat Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) by three straight sets 25-23, 27-25, 25 -21 in their match on the final day of the league played at the indoor sports hall of Ondo State Sports Council in Akure.
NSCDC finished second position and Nigeria Customs Service placed third in the men’s category while NSCDC and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Spikers finished second and third respectively in the women’s category.
Coach of Offa VC, Suleiman Ajeigbe dedicated the trophy to the members of his community (Offa) for their total support and the good people of Kwara state.
“It has been a very challenging one but it is all to the glory of God. In the history of Nigeria Volleyball Premier League our club from Offa which is a local government in Kwara has lifted the trophy,” Ajeigbe said.
“This is historical as this has never happened before Offa Volleyball Club came into being to help the youths in my community. I started the club to ensure that every member of my team is Kwara born but majority of the players are Offa born.
“It is to the glory of God almighty that I was able to start the club in 2010; now some of my players are playing outside the country.”
