Newly invited Super Eagles’ striker, Sadiq Umar was on target inAlmeria’s 3-2 defeat to Cartagonova at the Estadio Municipal on Tuesday.
The hosts drew the blood through Ruben Castro just four minutes to end the first half.
Sadiq later levelled the scores with a perfect finish at the dot of half time off a through pass from Samuel Costa.
It was Sadiq Umar’s 19th goal of the current Spanish Segunda B campaign and 21 in all competitions from 37 matches.
Cartagena, however, restored their lead within two minutes of resumption, it was Ruben Castro who punished Almeria for poor defending this time.
Almeria found their route back in to the game seven minutes later when Sadiq Umar earned the visitors a penalty after being brought down in the box. Largie Ramazani stepped forward and converted the kick.
Almeria conceded the third goals on the 82nd minutes when Pablo De Blasis scored from penalty spot.
The result means Almeria sits third on the standing with 67 points from 40 games, but they could drop to fourth should above Kenneth Omeruo’s Leganes win their game.
With two games left to play in the season, Sadiq Umar and his team mates must not drop any points if they are to secure a return to the LaLiga Santander.
