Super Eagles CB compares Sierra Leone to Argentina

The Super Eagles will aim to kick off the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on a winning note and the team is primed said Oluwasemilogo Ajayi.

Three-time African Champions, Nigeria will host Sierra Leone behind closed doors in the first game of the group, but it is expected to be a tricky test, Ajayi opined.

In the last two meetings between the sides, the Leone Stars have managed to snatch two points from their more illustrious opponent’s, including a dramatic 4-4 draw in Benin.

Speaking after the second practice session in preparation of the June 9th fixture, Ajayi insists the group wants a win and will play for three points.

He said Nigeria’s approach against Sierra Leone will be similar to any other team, as long as their points to be gained, the objective is same.

“We approach every game wanting to win, that’s the objective whether it’s Sierra Leone or any other team. We go into the game looking for three points,” the CB told Brila.net in the Super Eagles Abuja camp.

“We know it’s not going to be easy, so definitely we take the game very very seriously, we listen to what the Coach has to tell us in terms of the game plan and we give everything out there to make sure that we come home with the three points.”
