“They were owing me four months salary”, Onazi reveals why he left Denizlispor

Super Eagles midfielder, Ogeni Onazi has explained the reasons behind his exit from Turkish Club Denizlispor.

Recalled Denizlispor confirmed they part ways with the Nigerian international on Saturday, after just four months at the club.

The move brought an end to Onazi’s second stint at the club, despite making a promising start to the campaign.

Onazi who joined Denizlispor from Lithuanian side FK Zalgiris, featured in 11 games this campaign, starting 4 of those games in the league.

In a chat with AOIFootball, Onazi said, he decided to terminate this contract, because of unpaid wages and bonuses.

“I can confirm to you that I have just terminated my contract with my club because of unpaid wages for 4 months, I did not want to terminate but the president has lied too much.

“When I came back I told him that I don’t want to have the same issues we had during my first stint. I even gave them a discount of about 60 thousand euro, still, the President did not honour his part of the agreement,” Onazi revealed.

The 2013 AFCON winner added :

“I came back to get money from previous seasons owed over one and a half years and the president pleaded that I help the team return to the super league but he could not keep to his promise. I am disappointed,” Onazi concluded.
