Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifiers failure is difficult to forget – Oluehi

Super Falcons goalkeeper Oluchi Oluehi has admitted that the team is gutted for missing the chance to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The African most successful female football team bottled their chances of returning to the Olympics for the first time since 2008, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Ivory Coast at the Agege stadium in Lagos on Monday,  a result that saw the visitors picking the tickets on away goal rules, after the first leg in Abidjan ended goalless.

Reacting to the disappointing results, Oluehi who was part of Falcons’ squad to 2008 Beijing Olympics told brila.net that the failure will linger in the memory of the players for sometimes.

“It’s unfortunate that the result didn’t go our way and it was even more difficult that it happened in front of our fans ”

“We couldn’t put smile on the faces of the fans , and I think it’s gonna take time for it to erase in our memory”. Oluehi said.

The Super Falcons has now failed to qualify for the last three Olympic games since their last appearance in Beijing in 2008.
