South Africa’s national Under-20 (Amajita) provisional squad reported for camp on Monday, 14 January.
The team will be based at SAFA’s Technical Centre, Fun Valley, from 14–16 January before they travel to Nelspruit, Mpumalanga to continue with their local camp preparations there.
Amajita coach Thabo Senong has called in 34 players in which he will select 21 players to travel with for the upcoming 2019 Africa Under-20 Cup ofNations set to take place in a landlocked West African country, Niger.
This all-important biennial junior continental showpiece will take place from 2-17 February 2019 in the city of both Maradi and Niamey.
The top four finishers of this continental showdown will automatically qualify for the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup set to take place in Poland from 23 May to 15 June.
Amajita are in Group A and will take on hosts Niger in their opening group match before their next assignments against Burundi and Nigeria in their remaining group fixtures.
A top-two finish in their group will see South Africa automatically earning a spot in being named among the four African Under-20 teams that are to represent CAF on the world stage later in the year.
