We are responsible for the team selection against Ghana — Amunike

Emmanuel Amunike has denied that the coaching crew had disagreements with top officials of Nigeria Football Federation over invited players for the game against Ghana.

It was reported by some section of media few hours after the Super Eagles lost to the Ghana in the race for the World Cup, that the top officials of the Federation imposed some players on the coaching crew and it was one of the reasons the team failed.
Speaking in exclusive interview with brila.net, Amunike denied the reports and confirmed the coaching crew took part in the team selection for the two games.
He said : “We all had opinions about the invited players. We had conversation with the Austin Eguavoen who is the head of the technical crew and of course he has the final say over the list, because he’s the man in charge.”
The Super Eagles lost the FIFA World Cup ticket in Abuja, after playing a 1-1 draw with the Black Stars.
Arsenal’s midfielder Thomas Partey scored in the 11th minute, but the lead didn’t last long as William Troost-Ekong leveled the scores from penalty spot 12 minutes later.
The Ghanaians however defended their away goal advantage and advanced to Qatar 2022 on away goal.
