Okereke Haunts Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma

David Okereke scored for Venezia in their 1-1 draw against Roma at the Olimpico on Saturday night.

Okereke, who scored in the 3-2 win in the reverse fixture, was harmful for Mourinho’s men all through the night.

The Nigerian scored within 50 seconds to put Venezia ahead; Mattia Aramu’s cross found Okereke unmarked and he guided his header from six yards into the net.

But, Giallorossi responded and piled more pressure for an equaliser. They attempted a total of 44 shots on goal and hit the woodwork four times.

Venezia finished the game with ten men after Sofian Kiyine was sent off for a nasty kick in the first half.

The equaliser arrived late in the second half. Eldor Shomurodov’s back-heel flick sent Pellegrini through, Maenpaa rushed off his line to clear, but the Uzbekistan international fired the rebound into the roof of the net.

Roma pressed for the winner, but Venezia stood their ground and left with a point.

Although, he couldn’t save Venezia from being relegated, Okereke contributed seven goals in the league to finish as their top scorer.
