Zaidu Sanusi’s FC Porto starts title defense in style

Left-back Zaidu Sanusi was solid yesterday for Portuguese Primeira Liga Champion FC Porto as they got their Portuguese league title defense to a perfect start.

The 25-year-old was among the starters for the home game against Maritimo at the Estadio do Dragao on Sunday evening.

The Nigerian international put in a great shift at the back and was able to neutralize every threat coming from the right flank.

The Super Eagles first choice left back and former Santa Clara man was on the pitch for 90 minutes by coach Sergio Conceicao.

Porto took a three goals lead in the first half, courtesy of a brace from Mehdi Taremi, and a stunning free kick from Evanilson.

The host in the second half was more dominating as they extended their lead in the 68th minute, through Ivan Marciano, before Toni Martinez added the fifth in the 76th minute.

Sanusi and his mates at the back were however denied a clean sheet as the visitors grabbed a consolation with a goal from Claudio Wink.
