AWCONQ: Randy Waldrum expects tough challenge from Black Queens

Coach Randy Waldrum is expecting the Black Queens of Ghana to give the Super Falcons tough a match when both sides meet for the upcoming Awcon qualifiers.

The Falcons and their fierce rivals will square up against each other for a place in next year’s African Women’s championship.

The draw was conducted on Monday at the CAF headquarters in Cairo saw the two West African giants pitched against one another.

In his reactions to the pairing, Waldrum said he expected the Ghanaians to make life difficult for his side, but he’s confident they will qualify at the end.

“I think you always embrace the challenge. Obviously, this is a difficult draw, we have a lot of respect for Ghana, and we know the strength and power of that team.

“I know several of the results over the years against Ghana and I understand, as I mentioned earlier, the strength of this team, so we have a lot of respect for them.

“I think right now, the focus is more on preparing our team properly and as we get closer than we will start to prepare a little bit more for Ghana,” he told Sportnews Africa

Meanwhile, the eight-time African Champions are expected to take in an invitation tournament in the US in September as part of the preparation for the qualifiers.
