Striker Victor Boniface scored one of the goals as Royale Union Saint-Gilloise defeated Club Brugge 1-2 on Saturday in the Jupiler League.

Club Brugge and Union Saint-Gilloise had lost their opening match in the Champions’ Play-Offs to Genk and Royal Antwerp respectively.

So the game is a must win for both side, if they are to remain into contention.

However it was Union Saint-Gilloise who had the last laugh at the Jan Breydel Stadium after 90 minutes.

Victor Boniface netted the first goal four minutes before half time break. It was his 22nd goal of the season. The 22-year-old also
has 20 assists.

Union Saint Gilloise increased their lead immediately after the break, this time a deflected shot from Amani Lazare found it way into Simon Mignolet’s net.

Hans Vanaken got what was a consolation goal for the hosts with the final kick of the game.
