Lookman’s goal not enough to end Leicester City’s poor run in the Premier League

Super Eagles new boy Ademola Lookman grabbed his fourth league goal for Leicester City, but wasn’t enough to earn them a point against Wolves at Molineux on Sunday.

Leicester City conceded he first inside the opening nine minutes, no thanks to Ruben Neves’ strike from the edge of the box.

Lookman who was also on target in last Thursday’s 4-1 over Randers FC in the UEFA Conference League, restored parity for the Foxes in the 41st minute.

The Nigerian striker stabbed a low cross from Marc Albrighton who ran on to Tielemans’ gorgeous defence-splitting pass, before pulling the ball back.

But Wolves soon had the lead once more. Podence collected a square ball on the edge of the area, set himself and fired a low shot out of Kasper Schmeichel’s reach and into the bottom left corner.

In a bid to rescue a point from the game, Brendan Rodgers introduced James Maddison and Kelechi Iheanacho in the closing stages, but Leicester could not find a way back in the game.

Leicester City have now failed to win a Premier League game since beating Liverpool 1-0 on December 28 2021.

Leicester City will now shift their focus the game against FC Randers in the Europa Conference League round of 32 playoff.
