Chuba Akpom struck again as Middlesbrough continue their impressive form with a 3-1 win over Birmingham City on Monday.

The striker netted the winner in the English Championship game at St Andrew’s.

Akpom got his goal with five minutes left after Boro survived Blues’ attack.

Matt Crooks broke down the right and sent the right pass to Akpom who rounded goalkeeper John Ruddy to score his ninth goal in 10 games.

The striker now has 13 goals in the Championship this season for the Michael Carrick’s side.

The first half ended without a goal, but Boro went ahead 12 minutes into the second half with a perfect Matt Crooks’ header from Jonny Howson’s deep cross.

Crooks added the second few minutes later after capitalizing on George Friend’s error to guide the ball past goalkeeper Ruddy. Crooks now has four goals in his last five games.

Manchester United on loan winger Tahith Chong then reduced the deficit for the hosts 16 minutes remaining with a header from close range.

The win was the sixth in seven games, with Boro up to fifth on the Championship table.
