Onazi Turns back the Clock in Victory Over Genclerbirligi

Onazi Ogenyi turned back the clock with a fine individual display in Denizlispor 1-0 win over Genclerbirligi in a Turkish Super Lig match on Saturday.

Onazi was on for 88 minutes on Saturday, the most he has managed since returning from a lengthy injury which kept him out for almost a year.

Besides the yellow card he picked up in the first half, the Nigerian midfielder almost put not wrong foot forward in the league fixture played behind closed doors.

He won six tackles, the most by any player in the game, one interception and two clearances as Denizlispor defended Hugo Rodallega’s 54th minute strike, from an Onazi assist.

Onazi picked out his former Trabzonspor teammate with a lob pass and the Colombian hit one time with a spectacular volley to beat the goalkeeper.

The victory moved Bülent Uygun’s men a place above their opponents on the table.

It also saw them improve their recent fine form to three games unbeaten, with two wins in three matches.

The Super Eagles midfielder was making only his 6th league appearance of the season and was scored a 7.0 rating for his performance.
