Umar suffers knee injury, set for weeks on the sideline

Real Sociedad’s new forward Sadiq Umar is expected to be out of action for a few weeks after he suffered a knee injury on Sunday.

The Super Eagles forward started Real Sociedad’s league match against Getafe on Sunday night but had to leave the pitch before the halftime break.

The 25-year-old striker twisted his knee and was unable to continue the game at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

Before leaving the pitch Umar was having a good game and was on course to add to his leg three-goal tally.

His injury proved to be costly as Real Sociedad went down 2-1 to their hosts, just a few days after beating Manchester United at home.

The Quique Flores’ men took the lead on the stroke of halftime, thanks to goals from Enes Unal.

Carlos Elena then added the second for Getafe three minutes after the restart, courtesy of a strike from Carles Elena, before Brais Mendez pulled one back for Real Sociedad two minutes later.
