Bilic ready to hand Ekong Watford lifeline

Watford head coach Slaven Bilic has received a huge boost ahead of his side’s meeting with Blackpool on Saturday.

Bilic, who replaced Rob Edward recently, will be able to count on Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong for the game.

Ekong hasn’t kicked a ball since injuring his hamstring during the international break with Nigeria.

He sustained the injury in their 2-2 draw with Algeria B team in a practice game last month.

The CB missed the home defeat to Swansea City and previous game against Stoke City, and speaking during the news conference, Bilic said the player is now available and in contention for the game.

“Ekong trained with us yesterday [Thursday], he looks good and he’s definitely going to be in the squad. That’s a big positive for us, particularly with our injury problems at the back.”

The 29 year-old CB hasn’t really enjoy good playing time this season, as he slipped down the pecking order under former boss Rod Edward, but will now seek to get back a starter’s spot.
